Chelsea 2 – 0 Hull City: Match Report

Chelsea are looking more and more like Champions. Their performance was consistent, they excelled in all aspects of the game and they had the proper mentality going into a game which for some wouldn’t have mattered as much considering the fact that Tottenham and City finished in a draw, Liverpool lost and United couldn’t get more than a point against Stoke.

Gary Cahill

Costa was the stand-out player of this game as he managed to get the score opener in his usual efficient manner. He also celebrated by calling out all the haters who talked trash about him before returning to the pitch. Only good came out of this game as we could see Conte and the Spanish striker smile at each other when Batshuayi was sent in as a replacement for Costa. We also saw a player named Marcos Alonso who nobody knew much about before moving to Stamford Bridge, shine and he is becoming better and better with each game. Kante was great just as Moses who provided the assist for Costa’s goal. Fabregas is also worth mentioning as his cross helped Cahill deliver the final and fatal blow to Hull. The Spaniard almost got Costa a few good assists but unfortunately, they didn’t turn into goals. If Cesc does decide he can be at peace with the fact that he is not a team regular, Conte should do everything in his power to keep him around.

The situation couldn’t look better for Chelsea right now who definitely have the upper hand on a wounded Liverpool side who lost to Swansea who are 17th in the league. If Conte manages things the way he has up until now, the Blues could be almost certain of the title as soon as March. After Liverpool, Chelsea face Arsenal and 6 points against these two clubs will end the title race as Tottenham and City don’t seem strong enough to bring it home this year.
