This fixture meant City did not play a Barclays Premier League fixture, and considering Arsenal’s loss at Stoke City, gives City that incentive to go top of the table on goal difference if they win both their games in hand.

Cech’s position in the team has been a hot topic of debate lately, as youngster Thibaut Courtois has been firing on all cylinders for Atletico Madrid this season.
