According to Metro, Petr Cech has sounded out a warning to current Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois about a place in the side next year, and has suggested he will try his best to keep the Belgian out of Jose Mourinho’s starting eleven.

Chelsea came out winners in their home tie against Stoke City, but will now shift their focus to midweek when they host Paris Saint Germain at Stamford Bridge. While Mourinho remains unhappy with his strikers, he will also have to make a crucial decision about the goalkeeping situation in the summer. Cech has served in goal for nearly a decade, and is showing ageing signs on a few occasions. On the other hand, Courtois has proven his abilities in the Liga BBVA with Atletico for three consecutive seasons, and is also playing a crucial role in the club’s quest for the league title this season.

Mourinho has kept faith in Cech in both spells as manager, but may have to let the Czech international leave the club to instate Courtois as the permanent keeper for years to come. The Belgian, at the tender age of 21, is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and will surely demand first team action from Chelsea next season.
