Cavani Over Costa For Roman!

Cavani Over Costa For Roman!

Diego Costa’s move to Stamford Bridge looked set in stone according to some reports, and it got further impetus when the Brazil-born striker apparently smiled and waved when Blues fans started chanting ‘We’ll see you next year’ during Chelsea’s 0-0 draw at Madrid on Tuesday night in the Champions League semi-final.

However, reports emanating from Spain suggest the contrary. It seems the striker failed to understand the words directed at him by Chelsea supporters. Spanish correspondent for Gazzetta del Sport Filippo Ricci said on twitter, “He’s a polite guy. Doesn’t understand a word of the chant.”

Although he never directly says whether a deal is unlikely, if the Express is to be believed, Abramovich favours a move for Cavani over Costa, who fired a blank in the semi-final against a dogged Chelsea side.

Diego Torres Romano, a Spanish journalist, said on Twitter, “Last news from Mendes’s camp is that Abramovich said he wouldn’t sign Costa. The russian wants Cavani.”

The Uruguay international is playing second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic at PSG and, although the likely Ligue 1 champions would ideally not like to sell their £55 million acquisition, they would be tempted by a sale if a bid in that region arrives from abroad.

Who do you think Chelsea should make a move for in the summer – Diego Costa or Edison Cavani?
