The Chelsea boss has already rocked the boat by claiming earlier this week that United were paying exorbitant wages to new signing Luke Shaw. Mourinho tried to lure the 19-year-old left-back to Chelsea but claimed his wage demands would have ‘killed’ the club.
Shaw instead joined United where he reportedly earns £120,000 a week wages. The Manchester United manager, who gave Mourinho his first opportunity at Barcelona in 1997, stated he would speak to Mourinho in private.
The Special One already has a rocky relationship with his peers and former assistants including Andre Villas-Boas amongst others. His remarks about United’s Shaw signing led many to believe he would have a fall-out with van Gaal as well.
However, the former Dutch national coach has said that he will not be drawn into Mourinho’s mind games and that both can enjoy a pleasant relationship.
According to the Express, he said, “I don’t think I will fall out with him. He is my friend. For me (mind games) are not so interesting. I have to manage my club. That is already difficult enough. I am not concerned with other clubs or other managers.”
