Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount faced his own club when he started for Derby against the Blues in the Carabao Cup last night.
The 19-year-old created the second goal for forward Martyn Waghorn as the Rams were narrowly defeated at Stamford Bridge.

It was a strange atmosphere for the Carabao Cup clash. The Blues’ decision to allow both Mount and fellow Chelsea loanee Fikayo Tomori to face their own club was admirable but it can’t have been easy for either player.
Tomori scored an own goal in the opening exchanges but recovered to put in a good display, along with Mount. The return of Chelsea legend Frank Lampard as opposing manager made the evening feel more like a testimonial rather than a cup tie.
However, manager Maurizio Sarri would have been glad to get the 3-2 win, whilst also giving a number of squad players a runout. The Blues now face Bournemouth in the quarterfinals.
