Cahill May Need To Find A Different Club

With the winter transfer period fast approaching and most importantly, with the World Cup qualifiers almost over, some important transfers may occur. Players that desperately what to take part in the most important international football competition in the world need to prove themselves until the end of the season in order to get a ticket to Brazil. Chelsea’s Gary Cahill is one of those players according to Metro. In recent news Mourinho referred to the English international as his third choice as far as center backs go. The 27 year old is currently facing tough competition as Luiz and Terry look great on the pitch. Both the Brazilian and England’s former captain have an almost perfect season which gives Cahill little chance to find his way to the Portuguese boss’ first team.

Even if Cahill helped his national team secure a spot in the World Cup group stages, his place in Roy Hodgson will not stay a sure thing if he spends little or no time playing for Chelsea.

Mourinho was pretty straight forward with his player’s situation explaining that things like these often happen within large clubs such as Chelsea. Cahill is a great player but it just happens he has to compete for a spot in the Blues starting line-up with two of the best defenders the world has to offer at this particular moment.

Chelsea’s boss said that he will try helping Cahill as much as possible but that at the same time he will never set a player’s priorities above that of the entire club. Mourinho recently stated that he came back to build a legacy and that he is completely focused on what the club represents, thus giving a lot of meaning to his statements regarding Cahill’s current situation.

The English international could look to leave on loan for the rest of the season. He is under contract with Chelsea until 2017 which makes a transfer close to impossible. The 27 is valued at around 14 million pounds and may end up playing for Arsenal or Tottenham who look interested in his services even if for just a couple of months.
