British Businessman Worth £11.2 Billion Considers Chelsea Takeover Bid But There’s A Stumbling Block

The UK’s richest man Sir Jim Radcliffe is considering whether to make a bid for Chelsea, according to the Times.

Radcliffe, who is worth $13.1 Billion (£11.2 Billion), has been looking at buying the London club for some time, but an offer is far from certain.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is demanding £2.5 Billion to sell the Blues; a figure that is way above Radcliffe’s own valuation.

The 66-year-old is the founder and chairman of Petrochemical conglomerate Ineos Group and he is also said to be in the process of buying a cycling team from British broadcaster Sky.

Radcliffe’s move for Team Sky is expected to be confirmed today, with the team reportedly being renamed to Team Ineos from next season.

Whether he will then move on to acquiring Chelsea, it remains to be seen. The British businessman can certainly afford it, but the asking price demanded by Abramovich may still prove to be high.
