Benitez Issues Come-And-Get-Me Plea To Premier League Clubs

The former Liverpool manager returned to manage in the Premier League for Chelsea in November 2012, controversially replacing Di Matteo who had won the Champions League with the Blues only six months prior.

However, he has not had a happy spell with the Blues, continuously being booed by his own set of fans at Stamford Bridge. He also had to put up with ‘Rafa Out’ banners showcased by the Chelsea fans, who have not forgiven him for making distasteful remarks about them during his time at Liverpool.

Their demands have been met by Benitez himself, who announced his departure at the end of the season during his infamous rant against the fans and boards alike.

Benitez is, thus, going to be jobless this summer and Metro has revealed that the former Inter Milan manager would like to stay in England to manage a Premier League club. However, the Spaniard would like to manage a top club who are challenging for trophies on a consistent basis.

The Spaniard can really increase his chances of landing a job in England if he can achieve his three objectives with Chelsea – win the Europa League, win the FA Cup and qualify for the Champions League.

Even if Benitez achieves a cup double with a top-four finish, it is hard to see which top club could offer him a position. United and Chelsea are immediately ruled out and the prospect of returning to Anfield looks highly unlikely as Brendan Rodgers seems to be doing a decent job. Spurs have impressed under Villas-Boas this season and he would face another severe backlash if he joined rivals Everton.

But, Mancini and Wenger have failed to deliver at their clubs and their position could be under threat in the summer. Manchester City have failed to challenge United for the title and also meekly bowed out in the knockout phases of the Champions League. Arsenal are set to finish another season empty-handed and could also miss out on Champions League football.

If either one of them does face the sack, could Benitez be in line for a shock stay in England?
