Belgium coach reveals huge Courtois and Hazard news

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois could be set to leave the club this summer according to Belgium coach Graeme Jones, who says that a move for Eden Hazard could also be a possibility.

Courtois has been rumoured to be leaving Stamford Bridge all summer after negotiations over his contract stalled, and Real Madrid are the hot favourites to land him. The player himself has made no secret of his desire to move on, saying that he wants to return to Madrid where his family is.

It is believed that Madrid will make a move for the Belgian in he coming days, and Chelsea are expected to find a replacement before the window shuts – with Jordan Pickford one of many options.

Jones, who is part of Belgium’s coaching staff, told talkSPORT that he believes the 26-year-old will make a move: “I think definitely in Thibaut’s case.

“He’s got under a year left [on his contract] now, and I can only see him moving if I’m being honest.

“He’s obviously won the Golden Glove at the World Cup, and he had a fantastic tournament.

“I think he’ll move on.”

Eden Hazard has also been linked with a move away, and Jones says there is potential he could also be on his way to Madrid.

“With Eden I don’t know,” he added.

“Contractually he’s a Chelsea player, but he’s another who had a fantastic World Cup and could play for any team in the world.”

Manchester United are linked with a move for Spurs’ Toby Alderweireld, but Jones is unsure on the situation and says no matter who he plays for he will give his all.

“Again, Alderweireld’s contract is running down. Toby is a great boy and an excellent footballer, and I think he’s one of those boys that whoever he plays for, he will be focused and will give everything he’s got.

“So we’ll have to wait and see.”
