Belgian Star Hands Chelsea Major Boost As He Makes Claim About £40M Summer Transfer

Chelsea target Romeo Lavia has played down the chances of him returning to Manchester City just a year after leaving the Etihad.

The Belgian signed for Southampton at the start of the season but City have a £40m buyback option which they can trigger this summer. When asked whether he was open to rejoining the Premier League champions, Lavia replied:

“Too Early To Consider It.”

Lavia is known to be on Chelsea’s radar. Reports back in August claimed that the Blues attempted to sign the teenager just months after he joined the Saints but their approach was knocked back.

They may have more competition for the 19-year-old’s signature when the transfer window reopens. Arsenal and Manchester United have also been credited with an interest.

With Lavia seemingly reluctant to return to City, it does appear as though Chelsea will have one less competitor if they do make their move for the player in the coming weeks.
