Bayern Munich Star Gives Transfer Hint Ahead Of Possible £60m Chelsea Bid

Bayern Munich left-back David Alaba has suggested he would be interested in a move to the Premier League, but the Austrian remains coy about whether he will make the switch from his current club.

The 27-year-old has spent the last twelve years at Bayern but he is within the last eighteen months of his contract at the Allianz Arena, with no sign of an extension being signed. Chelsea are believed to be considering a £60m bid for the defender, and when asked whether a move to England would interest him, he said:

“We’ll see. I know the Premier League very well because I followed it a lot when I was younger. I supported Arsenal. Patrick Vieira was one of my favourite players. At the moment I don’t think too much about it, but I can imagine playing somewhere else.”

The Blues will almost certainly be looking for a new left-back in the summer with manager Frank Lampard preferring to use Cesar Azpilcueta in the position instead of the likes of Emerson or Marcos Alonso.

Alaba’s interest in a transfer to Stamford Bridge may depend on Champions League qualification. Chelsea face Manchester United this evening with the home side looking to consolidate their place in the top four.
