Bayern Munich defender Niklas Sule has refused to confirm that he will be staying with the Bundesliga champions beyond the summer.
Reports both in England and Germany in recent weeks have claimed that Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel wants to snap up the 25-year-old and, when asked about his future plans, the centre-back said he has yet to make a decision on his future:
“Before I speak internally with my employers, it is not my style to say anything publicly about it. When the time comes, I will sit down with my advisor and my family and then decide what is best for me and my family in terms of sport, finances and my family.”
Sule’s contract at Bayern expires in 2022 and it is believed that he will be sold at the end of the season if he refuses to sign a new deal. The German club are unwilling to allow another high profile player to leave in similar circumstances to David Alaba.
There is, of course, still a possibility that Bayern will cede to Sule’s contract demands so he can remain at the Allianz Arena but Chelsea look poised to make their move if the defender decides his future lies elsewhere.
