Barkley excited by new manager Sarri

Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley has praised the start to life new manager Maurizio Sarri has made at the club.

The former Napoli boss took over from Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge this summer after a long-winded saga, and has impressed many of the Blues’ players already despite only just beginning his tenure as manager.

He oversaw Chelsea beat Perth Glory for his first game in charge, with his side winning 1-0 against the Australian outfit.

And Barkley, who is hoping for a better season on a personal level, says he believes the Italian is the man to take both himself and the club to new heights.

“I can see from the training sessions that this season is going to be very exciting.” Barkley said.

“It has been very interesting – the style that he wants us to play, it is very attacking, as well as being very organised.

“Game by game I will feel much better and ready for the season.”

Barkley has endured a tough start to life at Chelsea following his £15m January move from Everton, struggling with injuries and managing only four appearances last season.

We all know what the England international is capable of, perhaps Sarri is the man to finally get the best out of Barkley.
