Barcelona to rival Real Madrid for signature of Chelsea superstar

Barcelona will challenge Real Madrid for the signature of Eden Hazard this summer, according to reports.

Hazard has hinted he could leave Stamford Bridge this summer after a difficult last season with the Blues, in which Antonio Conte’s side finished fifth in the Premier League.

Real Madrid are favourites to land the Belgium superstar, however they will now face competition from their La Liga rivals for the 27-year-old.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, Barcelona have been exploring the possibility of getting Hazard on-board.

Barca boss Ernesto Valverde reportedly wants Hazard to bolster his attacking line after a disappointing season for Ousmane Dembele, who joined the club last summer from Borussia Dortmund.

Dembele scored just four times in an injury plagued campaign, and while he is still viewed as a long term asset to the club, Hazard is viewed as the type of player who can make an immediate impact at the Camp Nou.

Should Chelsea sell-up, they are expected to demand in excess of £100 million for Hazard.

The Belgian joined Chelsea in 2012 from Lille, and has since established himself as one of the Premier League most talented attackers, scoring 89 times in 300 appearances.
