Bale To Let Chelsea Opportunity Slip?

In an interesting turn of events at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid have decided to take action on the several rumours of Gareth Bale moving out of the club in the summer, convincing the influential attacker to sign an extension to his current contract and hence squashing all reports of an exit, according to the Express.

Chelsea have been performing consistently since the start of the Barclays Premier League campaign, but have struggled to carry on that form into the new year, as this past week brought another defeat. First one being in the hands of Newcastle United at St. James Park, Jose Mourinho was determined to put a good performance against city rivals Tottenham Hotspur away at White Hart Lane. Even though Mourinho got the perfect start with Costa giving Chelsea the lead, it soon slipped as Spurs were 3-1 at half time courtesy Harry Kane, Andros Townsend and Danny Rose. The scoreline soon looked worse for Mourinho, as Chelsea lost 5-3, and are now level on points and goal difference with Manchester City.

Bale has been linked to clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United, as both clubs are feeling the need for another top attacking player to bolster their ranks. The 25-year old’s current contract ends in 2019, but Madrid president Florentino Perez seems to have settled an agreement with Bale and his representatives to extend the contract to 2022, with an inevitably increase in wages.
