Bakayoko’s Brother Confirms Chelsea Star Has Decided To Stay Despite Other Offers

Abdoulaye Bakayoko has confirmed that his brother Tiemoue will be staying at Chelsea this summer.

He revealed that the midfielder did have offers to leave Stamford Bridge but the Frenchman has opted to stay put and fight for his place:

“There are some rather interested clubs, we have received so many proposals, but we give priority to Chelsea. There is the Champions League and we are looking for stability, Tiemoue has decided to stay in London.”

AC Milan did have the option of signing Bakayoko permanently for €35m but the Rossoneri’s failure to qualify for the Champions League has likely stopped that from happening.

The 24-year-old was loaned out by the club last summer after a difficult first season in England. With manager Maurizio Sarri poised to join Juventus, Bakayoko is likely hoping he can impress his successor in preseason.

With Ruben Loftus-Cheek sidelined with a major Achilles injury, and Mateo Kovacic likely returning to Real Madrid, Bakayoko could well have a role to play.

Especially with Chelsea’s transfer ban remaining in place, for the time being, the club may welcome having an extra body in the squad ahead of next campaign.
