Reports in France have stated that Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko is in London ahead of his proposed move to Chelsea. The French midfielder is set to join the Blues in a £36.7million and partner fellow international Kante at the heart of the Premier League champions midfield.

The holding midfielder has been heavily linked with a switch to the Premier League this summer, with both Chelsea and Manchester United targrting the 22 year-old. However it is believed that the Frenchman prefers a move to Stamford Bridge over Old Trafford.

With both personal terms with the player and a fee agreed with Monaco, all that remains for Bakayoko is for him to complete a medical. He is said to have arrived in London yesterday in order to get the move over the line, according to RTL.

Bakayoko played a key role in Monaco’s recent super season where they won the Ligue 1 title and reached the semi-finals of the Champion’s League. The French international made over 50 appearances, scoring 3 times.

Antonio Conte’s is a big fan of the 6ft midfielder and will hope to slot him into the side in order to defend his title and challenge for the Champions League. Bakayoko’s arrival could mean that Nemanja Matic will join rivals Manchester United in a £35m deal, although any truth to these rumours remain to be seen.
