Chelsea right-back Reece James put in a stellar display as the Blues sealed a convincing 3-1 win over Manchester United yesterday evening.
The 20-year-old was utilised as a wingback, keeping his opposing number Brandon Williams quiet whilst also providing a threat going forward throughout the 90 minutes.
Fans on Twitter were quick to praise James after the game:
Was back to his marauding best today Reece ????

Great performance. Also heightened by the fact that he had Azpi covering the right centre half. Proves he could probably be a better RWB than a RB since he loves staying in front

This boy is going to be the best of them all. Will be leaving both Trent and Wan-Bissaka behind soon.?

Owned the whole of the right side. As Alan Hansen would say, Power, pace and determination.

James’ form has been up and down in recent months. He was one of those who was substituted at half-time by manager Frank Lampard in the last round of the FA Cup against Leicester.
However, like the whole team on Sunday, the fullback was at it from the first minute, showing great intensity which carried him through the entire game.
Of course, at James’ age, he will be inconsistent at times but performances like the one yesterday show that he has the potential to be one of the best fullbacks in the league, if not Europe.
