Jose Mourinho is eyeing a deadly striker to spearhead Chelsea’s attack next season with a lack of goals from strikers a major problem from last season. Mourinho’s number one target Diego Costa is on the verge of signing for the Blues after reportedly passing a medical.

The deal to bring Costa from Madrid to Stamford Bridge is expected to be completed this week, according to the Daily Star. The Champions league semi-finalists have activated the buy-out clause in Costa’s contract, which is set at £32 million.

This move will mean the end of the line for current Blues strikers Torres and Ba, who both endured a difficult year in front of goal for Chelsea last season. Mourinho is keen to get rid of the dead weight and wants to sell the strike duo.

Torres and Ba have both attracted interest from foreign clubs, with Valencia and Besiktas respectively interested in their services.
