Ba Has No Intention Of Leaving Chelsea, Saying: I Will Stay

Speculation about Demba Ba’s future has taken a twist, as the striker has now revealed that he wants to stay at Chelsea, ignoring any talk of a potential move to Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala this summer.

Jose Mourinho has been trying to increase competition in the side in order to boost team performances, and the club’s participation in multiple competitions will utilise the full strength of the squad. The three signings so far this summer have ensured that the side is relatively well balanced and prepared for the future, with legendary players like Frank Lampard reaching the end of their Chelsea careers.

Ba was brought to England by West Ham after his impressive spell at German club Hoffenheim. The striker struggled with knee problems which were highlighted during his alleged move to Stoke City, which fell through because of a reportedly failed medical. West Ham United then signed the striker on a pay-as-you-play basis, and Ba impressed, scoring 7 goals in 12 appearances for the London club. Then Newcastle came calling, and Ba was on his way to the North-East of England, where he developed a cult hero following.

However, two years later, Chelsea triggered the much publicized buyout clause in Ba’s contract at Newcastle, and bought the striker for a fee in the range of £7 million. The Senegalese striker scored 2 goals in 14 Barclays Premier League appearances for the club and was not really a resounding success mainly due to a nasty nose break which he sustained, causing him to firstly miss games and then secondly have to get back into the swing of things after only just starting to settle in with his new team. .

With Mourinho’s arrival, Ba’s future at the club remained a doubt, and there has been heavy media attention to where the 28-year old will ply his trade next season. There were rumors of a return to Newcastle, with Anzhi and West Ham both linked with a move for the striker.

The club’s link to Wayne Rooney does not come as good news for Ba, who will have to sacrifice on playing time next season if the deal with Manchester United does go through.

According to ESPN, Ba iterated his intentions of staying at Chelsea, dismissing any reports of a move away from the London based club.

Ba said, “I will stay. I think we need competition and we welcome the best players in this club. More competition is going to make me better anyway.”

I like the words from Ba it shows he believes he can mix it up with his team amtes at Chelsea and we are definitely yet to see the best of Ba in a Chelsea shirt due to his injury and his taking time to adjust to a new club. I hope Demba Ba stays at Chelsea and bangs in a ton of goals, showing just why he was signed in the first place – because he is a superb world class goal-scorer.
