Mourinho seems keen on rewarding Spanish international, Cesar Azpilicueta who has had an amazing season with Chelsea. Regardless of the fact that he is being played out of position for much of the time, the right back has displayed some impressive abilities throughout the year. According to the Daily Mail, even though he is under contract until 2017, he is set to receive a considerable increase in his salary. Apparently he will receive somewhere around £70,000 per week which is a lot for a 24 year old defender.

Azpilicueta has taken over the left side of the pitch even if he is better featured on the other side of the defense. Putting someone like Ashley Cole on the bench says a lot about a player. He is fast, precise, and most importantly, very disciplined. Despite not scoring any goals, he has made several assists and contributed to Chelsea’s excellent run.

Even though Luke Shaw is being targeted by The Blues, Azpilicueta has no reason to worry considering he is brilliant on both left and right sides of the pitch. The Spanish international who will surely get called to represent his national team in Brazil, deserved an increase in pay after being the most consistent and the most determined footballer Chelsea have had lined up the entire season. Hopefully the increase in salary will make him be even more determined.
