Torres has time until the end of the month to decide whether he will complete his contract with Chelsea or he will choose to return to his former club in Madrid. The Spaniard seems to have fallen into third place as far as the race for the Blue’s number one striker goes. What is even more disappointing is that he did so while competing with Drogba who despite his amazing career and incredible qualities will be turning 37 next year. According to Metro, the fact that Torres is in danger of not making the team more than a couple of times, has alerted Atletico who could lend a hand to their former star striker.

The 30 year old would surely have a chance of making the team if moving to Spain. Even though Atletico have signed Mandzukic and Griezmann, only one of the two plays on a similar position to that of Torres. There is a problem though which might prevent Chelsea’s striker from moving back to Spain. Mourinho has given up Eto’o, Lukaku and Demba Ba who were all allowed to leave. Even if Torres is not a first option for the Blue’s attack, he is still essential for the squad considering the impressive number of matches Premier League teams are usually obligated to play.

Chelsea are set to win at least one trophy this season, with the Premier League and the Champions League being on top of the list. In order to do so they will need a complete squad which will offer enough choices to allow the team to emerge victorious at the end of the season.
