Fernando Torres is a product of Atletico’s academy and famously donned the armband at the tender age of 19. He went on to play for Liverpool before signing for a British record £50 million fee for Chelsea in January 2011, after which his form took a nose dive.

He is currently struggling on a two-year loan deal at AC Milan and there are suggestions that the deal may be cancelled in January. Torres would welcome the opportunity to finish his career at his boyhood club Atletico, and they are interested in bringing him back to the Vicente Calderon, according to Daily Mail.

However, the caveat is that they do not want to pay a transfer fee and will request Chelsea to sell him for free. The Spanish side have developed good relations with the Blues due to the transfer dealings involving Diego Costa, Felipe Luis and Thibaut Courtois, and they want to use such relations to sign Torres for free.
