Aston Villa V Chelsea: Team News And Betting Odds

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard would have been delighted with the performance in the 4-0 win over Everton last weekend, and he will want his side to follow that up with another good display against Aston Villa on Saturday.

The Villans head into the game off the back off a chastening 4-0 loss versus Leicester on Monday and the Blues will want to take advantage of their low confidence levels.

Chelsea do have a host of fitness concerns going into the fixture, though, with Mason Mount the latest to be sidelined with a knee injury. He is a doubt but the player feels he should be back in contention for the weekend.

Christian Pulisic (groin) and Ruben Loftus-Cheek (fitness) have an outside chance of featuring but the likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi (hamstring), N’Golo Kante (adductor), Mateo Kovacic (Achilles), Tammy Abraham (ankle) and Marco van Ginkel (knee) all remain on the sidelines. Jorginho is also unavailable due to suspension.

For Villa, manager Dean Smith will be weighing up whether to include midfielder John McGinn. The Scottish international hasn’t played since December due to an ankle injury but he is closing in on a return to full fitness.

Tom Heaton (knee), Jed Steer (Achilles) and Wesley Moraes (knee) have all been ruled out for the season with serious injuries.

The bookies have Chelsea as the favourites with Sky Bet currently pricing them at 7/10 odds-on for the win. A draw is 13/4 with Unibet while an Aston Villa victory is 4/1 at Bet 365.

Predicted Score – 3-1 to Chelsea
