Chelsea manager Frank Lampard could be without Callum Hudson-Odoi for the game against Aston Villa on Sunday evening.

The winger has not featured in any friendly ahead of the Premier League’s return, with the player said to be struggling with an ankle injury.

However, both Andreas Christensen (broken finger) and Reece James (knock) are expected to be available despite having fitness issues of their own going into the fixture at Villa Park.

Lampard will also be without Jorginho with the Italian international serving his suspension for picking up ten yellow cards this campaign.

Villa boss Dean Smith could have five players out of contention for the game this weekend. Frederic Guilbert (knee) will face a late fitness test, while Bjorn Engels (Achilles) and Danny Drinkwater (knock) have both been ruled out.

Tom Heaton and Wesley Moraes are continuing their rehabilitation as they recover from long-term knee injuries.

The bookies have made Chelsea the firm favourites for the game at Villa Park with the Blues being priced at 11/20 odds-on at 888 Sport. A draw is 18/5 with William Hill while a Villa victory is 11/2 at BetVictor.
