Ashley Cole Linked With Liverpool Move

It seems like all the older Chelsea players are being linked with moves away from the club, as the Blues are retooling the squad with an emphasis on the long-term and not just the immediate future when they sign players.

According to Metro, Chelsea could let Ashley Cole leave the club this summer, and reports have suggested Barclays Premier League rivals Liverpool have registered a strong interest in the player on a free transfer in the summer.

Liverpool have faced a problem with the left-back position, as their first choice left back Jose Enrique has been on the injury list for most of the season. Aly Cissokho had been signed on loan from Valencia, but has not given any indication of signing a permanent deal with the club. This has left a gaping hole in the position, which Liverpool would like to be filled by an experienced player like Cole.

Cole has been a loyal player for Chelsea in his career, and has represented the club on 225 occasions. Under Jose Mourinho, Cole was part of the squad that achieved success before the Portuguese left in 2007. The 33-year old has also made 106 appearances for the England national side since his debut in 2001.
