Ashley Cole Has Yet To Find A New Team

Ashley Cole is expected to sign a deal with a big club after becoming a free agent. The English international who has been linked with MLS teams and also French side Monaco, has yet to decide which championship to choose. Recent rumors have it that he might be heading to Italy to start negotiations with Roma. According to the Daily Mail, the former Chelsea left back, is keen on playing once again in the Champions League group stages. With the Romans finishing second to Juventus, Cole could be facing his former club as soon as October when the first games will be underway.

After spending 8 years at Stamford Bridge, the 33 year old will have to adapt to a different type of football. The Italians are far more defense oriented which might be a problem considering how much Cole loved his left wing runs. The English international who retired from national duty this year has only played in the Premier League. He made 156 appearances for Arsenal and 229 appearances for Chelsea.

Roma is not the only team interested in his services as Real Madrid, Barcelona and Milan also looked keen on signing the 33 year old. The problem with Barcelona is that there is no way Cole will replace Alba on the left side of the defense which means he would have to settle for being a substitute. It is hard to believe that will happen considering this was the main reason for him leaving Stamford Bridge.
