Armando Broja And His Chelsea Future: The Four Possible Outcomes As He Refuses To Rule Out Stamford Bridge Exit

Chelsea loanee Armando Broja is not ruling out leaving the club on a permanent basis, according to the Daily Express.

The Albanian international has been very impressive during his loan spell at Southampton this season, and the Saints are keen on keeping the player.

Reports in recent days suggest that the likes of Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are also keeping tabs on Broja’s situation.

Press the next page as we assess the striker’s future at the London club.

1) Broja Stays And Becomes A Squad Player

The 20-year-old looks ready to be a regular starter at the ‘top six’ club already but the major obstacle to that happening with the Blues is Romelu Lukaku.

Unless Chelsea cut their losses on the Belgian this summer, Broja would have to be content with playing a bit-part role, starting in the domestic cups and a few Champions League group games. Would he be happy to do that if he stays at Stamford Bridge?

2) Broja Stays And Is Loaned Out For Another Season

This is likely to be the scenario that Chelsea would back, considering the progress that Broja has already made during his spell on loan at the Saints this season.

A second campaign away from the club will allow him to perfect his game even further. The big question would be whether the Albanian would have to move to a club abroad in order to gain top-level experience, as the Blues would not want to strengthen a domestic rival.

3) Broja Leaves But Chelsea Include A Buyback Clause

The Tammy Abraham approach could be something that the Chelsea board may consider. If he isn’t in Thomas Tuchel’s plans for next season and the player doesn’t want to be loaned out again, selling him may be the only option available.

When Abraham was sold to Roma for €40m (£34m), an €80m (£67m) buyback option was included so a similar approach could work with Broja, although it’s unlikely that clubs like Arsenal would agree to such a condition. A club in another league may be more amenable.

4) Broja Is Sold On For A Huge Transfer Fee

This is, by far, the least likely, considering Broja is such a talented young player, but there have been scenarios in the past where players, frustrated with their lack of game time at their parent clubs, have tried to force through a move.

If Broja insists on leaving at any point in the future, the Blues could hold out for a sizeable transfer fee, but only if they don’t believe he will make the grade at Stamford Bridge.
