“Anything Can Happen” Manager Drops Transfer Hint As Chelsea Look To Snap Up Spanish Star Ahead Of Deadline Day

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has not ruled out Saul Niguez leaving the La Liga champions ahead of the transfer deadline.

Chelsea have reportedly tabled a loan offer, with an option to buy, which hasn’t been accepted by Atletico but, after holding talks with the player, Simeone said he could not guarantee that the Spaniard would stay:

“We talked to him, I told him what I think and feel. There is not much else. Between now and Tuesday, we’ll see. We know that anything can happen in football.”

Manchester United and Liverpool have also been linked with Niguez this summer but the Blues are thought to be the only team that have made an official bid for the 26-year-old.

It seems as though Atletico want an obligation to buy in any loan deal and that looks to be the major sticking point in negotiations currently.

There is no sign that a compromise will be reached before the transfer window closes tomorrow but, as Simeone points out himself, there could be a few twists and turns over the next day or so.
