Andre Villas-Boas Returns To Stamford Bridge

Chelsea are about to play one of the most important matches of the season. If they manage to defeat Spurs they will probably finish in the Premier League top three which according to Benitez is the Blues’ top objective. After missing out on all the biggest trophies this year they have directed their entire determination to securing a place in next years’ Champions League. Even though they still have the Europa League final to think about, the Stamford Bridge team are focusing on the match against Tottenham that is of great importance, considering there are only three points separating the two.

According to London Evening Standard, in recent comments Andre Villas-Boas spoke about how his experience with Chelsea changed his managerial style. After failing to live up to Abramovich’s expectations, the Portuguese coach had to rethink his way of dealing with the rigors of English football. His collaboration with the Blues lasted only for nine months, even if his initial contract was due to be spread over a three year period.

According to Chelsea’s former manager, his departure was caused by his plans to put together a much younger team that could start growing with him side by side. Trying to phase out iconic footballers such as Lampard and Terry was a big mistake according to him, which is quite ironic considering that Abramovich is now attempting to apply the same strategy. The club announced that no player over the age of 30 will receive a contract that exceeds a one year agreement.

Villas-Boas also spoke about the fact that his current players have a different mentality and about the fact that his current club is not focused on individuals but rather on creating a compact team that works well together and that is not reliant on certain footballers no matter how good they are. The match against Chelsea will be of great importance and will definitely bring the best out in both teams. We can’t wait!!
