Andre Schurrle Is Closer To Chelsea Move Than Ever

It looks like Chelsea have already started their summer spending spree. They have apparently secured the signature of one of Europe’s most promising offensive players – Andre Schurrle, who is currently with Leverkusen and is set on moving to Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer period. He will probably be the first out of a long line of players to sign with Chelsea this summer.

According to Metro, the 22 year old German international has been on the Blues’wish-list since last year. They have already bid for him three times up to now and have been rejected every time. The current fee looks like it has reached £20 million after starting off at about £12 million. Chelsea have not issued an official statement regarding the terms of the Schurrle deal. Leverkusen also seem to have rejected the offer that included Kevin de Bruyne as part of the deal. With de Bruyne going to the German side, Schurrle’s transfer price would have probably gone down a bit.

According to recent news, Schurrle is already negotiating his contract which will be a five year deal. Rumors say that he will receive £90,000-a-week, which will be a massive change for the German. The sweet contract was not the only thing that helped Schurrle decide to move to London. It looks like the Blues wanted him so bad that they even provided all sorts of VIP treatment when the 22 year old came to see the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City.

This transfer has been insisted on by Abramovich’s right hand at the club – Michael Emenalo. Chelsea’s former Chief Scout is now making all the moves for the Blues especially since Benitez is not having any input on incoming transfers as he will not be there to train any of the players. Even though Schurrle’s transfer may look a bit expensive, as we know the Blues are not short of a few £’s and they may be helped to find the necessary resources by releasing or selling players such as Malouda, Benayoun, Ferreira, Essien, Turnbull or Lampard who have combined salaries a lot bigger than what the club is due to spend on the young German.
