It was disappointing display and result against West Ham yesterday, and the absence of Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham was keenly felt as the Blues failed to get on the scoresheet.

The 22-year-old was sidelined with a hip injury he picked up against Valencia on Wednesday and his replacement Olivier Giroud did not offer much in the final third of the pitch.

Michy Batshuayi came on for Abraham after Chelsea’s no.9 was stretchered off midweek, but neither forward has really impressed, leaving fans on Twitter complaining about the lack of depth in the club’s striking department:

Supporters will be hoping that Abraham returns to fitness as quickly as possible. Manager Frank Lampard revealed before the defeat to West Ham that the striker was still in pain and that they will wait until Monday before making any decision about his situation.

The Blues face Aston Villa on Wednesday night so the forward is looking touch and go to be fit for that game as well.
