Agent Publicly Warns Club To Lower £40M Asking Price As Chelsea And PL Rivals Circle

The agent of Chelsea target David Raya has warned Brentford that the Spaniard will leave the club on a free transfer next year if the Bees don’t lower their valuation.

Even though the goalkeeper has just a year left on his contract, his asking price is £40m, but the player’s representative Jaume Munell has told Fabrizio Romano that Brentford must lower their demands:

The Blues are believed to be keen on recruiting a new number one, with the club open to offers for Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Raya is reportedly under consideration as a transfer target for Chelsea, but the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham are also thought to be keen on the 27-year-old.

From Munell’s remarks, though,  it appears Brentford’s price tag is putting off suitors from making bids. The Bees’ hardline stance on his value is likely to soften as the summer goes on, as the possibility increases of losing him on a free.

What other keepers are Chelsea targeting?

In addition to Raya, the likes of Borussia Dortmund’s Gregor Kobel and Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili have been mentioned as possible options.

However, Inter Milan’s Andre Onana has been the player most heavily linked and he is likely to be the main alternative to Raya.
