“A Very Big Decision To Make…” Matt Law Provides Significant Update On Thiago Silva’s Future At Chelsea

Thiago Silva

Chelsea centre-back Thiago Silva would seriously consider a move back to Brazil this summer, according to the Daily Telegraph reporter Matt Law.

The journalist, who is a very reliable source when it comes to Chelsea, claims that Silva is likely to be tempted by a return to his first club Fluminense if they make a serious push to sign him in the coming weeks. Speaking on the London is Blue podcast, he said:

“There is a sense that should Fluminense come in strong for him this summer, it will give him a very big decision to make because, at the end of the day, he is going to be 39 at some point [this year] so he is not going to have too many more opportunities to finish his career there [in Brazil]”.

Silva has spoken out this week to say that he is happy at Stamford Bridge but he did stop short of committing his long-term future to the Blues. Based on Law’s remarks, and the fact that Chelsea won’t stand in his way if he asks to leave, there is a decent chance that he will make the switch back to Brazil.

Silva signed a new one-year contract extension not long ago so why would he leave now?

The 38-year-old has always said that he wants to finish his career at Fluminense so if the Brazilian side do make a formal approach, he is not likely to turn them down.
