A Verdict On Chelsea’s Transfer Ban Appeal Could Come Sooner Than Expected

A verdict from FIFA on Chelsea’s appeal against a transfer ban is likely to be handed out next week, according to the Associated Press.

The Blues have been banned from signing players for two transfer windows following breaches in 29 separate transfers relating to players under the age of 18.

At the time, Chelsea said that they “categorically refute” the allegations and were determined to see the sanctions against them lifted.

FIFA do have until the 1st July at the latest to come up with a decision, but it appears that a verdict will be delivered well before then.

If the ban is upheld, it would mean that the Blues could still sell players, but will be unable to register any new signings until July 2020.

Whether they would then take their case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), it isn’t known, but the London club will be hoping that FIFA will reverse their decision before it comes to that.
