Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk was given 67 minutes against West Ham in the 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon.
The Ukrainian international recovered from a cold in time to keep his place in the starting lineup after being replaced at halftime versus Fulham. While supporters on Twitter were impressed with Mydryk’s performance for the most part, they were pretty frustrated that he wasn’t given more of the ball by Marc Cucurella:
Was pretty poor. Glimpses of quality but that’s as far as it goes

Unfortunately so. Was impressed by some of the neat touches and incisive passes that he done. Particularly, the one or two through to Kai.

Good but no service whatsoever from Cucurella

He’s honestly a very good threat on the ball. The only issue is he barely got the ball 💀

Hard to rate him given Cucurella wouldn’t give him the ball at any time

Needs to blend in

Quite okay. Despite his quick feet and pace, I feel the passes must get to him while in motion

Very impressed with his performance today but the synergy btw him and cucurella is poor. We should use chilwell instead

Although Mudryk didn’t get into the game as much as he would have liked, there was one notable moment of quality when his reverse ball put Kai Havertz in on goal. Despite rounding the keeper and scoring, though, the German’s effort was ruled out for offside.
Other than that, however, most of Mudryk’s work was tracking back and putting in a shift out of possession. It has been a solid, if not spectacular, start for the January signing and he will be looking to make more of an impression in the Champions League against Dortmund.
