Glenn Hoddle Singles Out Chelsea Star For Doing “A Fabulous Job” Following Recent Displays

Former Chelsea manager Glenn Hoddle has praised Andreas Christensen following the Danish defender’s superb displays over the past few weeks.

The 24-year-old came into the starting lineup after Thiago Silva was sidelined with an injury at the start of last month and Hoddle says the centre-back has been putting in consistently excellent performances:

“Y’know Thiago (Silva) pulled a hamstring against Tottenham, he was playing some wonderful football for him, and we haven’t seen him since. But (Andreas) Christensen has come in and has done a fabulous job in there. Everyone is playing to what you’re always looking for as a manager, individually getting 8 or 9 out of 10.”

Thomas Tuchel’s three at the back system is undoubtedly helping Christensen. The Dane does lack the pace and mobility in a back four but, with two defenders either side of him, he is able to play to his strengths.

Whether he’ll retain his place now Silva is back fit, it remains to be seen. Tuchel values the Brazilian’s experience and may want to reintroduce him to the starting eleven as soon as possible. However, Christensen’s superb form will provide him with a selection headache and it will be interesting to see who starts against Everton at Stamford Bridge this evening.
