Latest Chelsea Injury News: Updates On Thiago Silva, Zouma And Havertz

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has admitted that the tight turnaround between matches will make it difficult for Thiago Silva to recover in time for the game against Sheffield United on Sunday.

The Brazilian injured a muscle whilst stretching for the ball midway through the first half of the 1-0 win over Tottenham last night, and Tuchel says he is not confident that the defender will be available this weekend:

“It will be very tight for Sunday. It is only in two days but it is hard to give a diagnosis because I saw him only very quickly in the dressing room with a big strap around his muscle. We will have to wait until tomorrow so we can confirm it but I think for Sunday he is a big doubt and I don’t think that he can play.”

Tuchel is already without one other centre-back in Kurt Zouma. The Frenchman picked up a minor problem in training earlier this week and he wasn’t in the matchday squad for the match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It was a similar situation for Kai Havertz with the German also not making the bench for the Spurs victory. Considering they were both described as “little issues” by Tuchel in a press conference prior to yesterday’s match, a return to fitness for Sunday’s game does seem likely.
