£62M Summer Signing Faces ‘Uncertain Future’ As Chelsea Plot To Use Him In Swap Deal For Portuguese Ace

Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella could be offered to Atletico Madrid in a bid to sign Joao Felix on a permanent basis, according to the Evening Standard.

The newspaper claims that the Spaniard is facing an “uncertain future” at Stamford Bridge, having struggled to make an impact since his £62m move from Brighton last summer.

With Atletico said to be fans of Cucurella and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, there is a possibility that one or both could be offered to the La Liga side in exchange for Felix.

The Portuguese forward is currently on loan at Chelsea but there is no option to buy him in the current agreement. Atletico are said to want around £88m, which is not a figure that the Blues are prepared to pay.

With that being the case, a swap deal could prove a better solution for both parties. It remains to be seen, though, whether Cucurella or Aubameyang would be open to moving in the other direction.
