£50m Rated Moroccan Star Admits He’s Flattered By The Interest As Chelsea And Arsenal Circle

Real Madrid full-back Achraf Hakimi has admitted he is flattered by the interest that is being shown in him from other clubs.

The likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus have been linked with summer bids for the Moroccan international, who is currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund. Hakimi says he will consider his options when his spell in Germany comes to an end:

“Who does not like it [being linked with big clubs]? I am proud of what I am doing. In June I will have to make a decision and it will be a great step for my career. In theory, my contract ends in June [with Dortmund] and from there I have to return to Madrid.”

“I have not yet had contact with Madrid on this matter, but I imagine that soon we will have some conversation to find out what is best for me.”

Hakimi’s current deal at Real expires in 2022, while some reports have suggested that he has a release clause of around £50m.

Whether he would be sold for anywhere near that figure, it seems doubtful, but the 21-year-old’s agent has recently confirmed that he will sit down with both Dortmund and Real Madrid to discuss a permanent move.

It remains to be seen if Chelsea would look to muscle in on any negotiations. Hakimi is a right-back by trade, and with Cesar Azpilicueta and Reece James already at the club, it seems unlikely that manager Frank Lampard would need another player in the same position.
