1) Find a way to get the best out of Fernandez
Christopher Nkunku’s injury has had a devastating effect on Pochettino’s plans in more ways than one.
The Frenchman’s absence has undoubtedly blunted the team’s threat in attack and it has subsequently forced Pochettino into playing Fernandez higher up the pitch.
You can’t blame him for doing that as the Argentinian international is one of the club’s most influential players. However, the consequence has been that they have struggled to get the player on the ball enough.
Against Aston Villa at the weekend, Fernandez touched the ball just 43 times before he was taken off midway through the second half. Play him slightly deeper so he can get hold of possession and dictate play.
