Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso has been struggling for form over the past few weeks and he put in another poor display against Wolves last night.
How much his back injury is affecting his performances, it is not known, but it was a surprise that he was selected to start at Molineux considering his fitness problems.
Supporters are now calling on manager Maurizio Sarri to replace him with Emerson Palmieri for the game against Manchester City this weekend:
I have no words for Marcos Alonso!! Man has dropped a -10/10 performance. What a liability #cfc #WOLCHE

Does any of our fullbacks takes on a player and crosses the ball in to the box??????
Both Azpi and Alonso shouldn't play as fullbacks…..
Infact Alonso shouldn't play at all….#WOLCHE #cfc— Bhanuprakash (@bm_bhanuprakash) 5 December 2018
Alonso with a another shocker today, start Emerson #CFC

The only obvious squad selection mistake was Alonso – he is horrible several games in a row. Give Emerson a chance.
Willian was not a mistake but a month more of him wasting squad space and it will be. Needs to find his mojo soon or prepare to be replaced #cfc

Currently Emerson is better than Alonso but surprisingly Alonso is seen on first 11 just running in slow motion #CFC

I’m disgusted & annoyed after last night’s game at Wolves. Couldn’t kill the game when we had the chance to. Sarri thinks Alonso is our best left back when we have Emerson who’s much better. Our #1 striker is Morata who can’t stay on his feet. #CFC

Alonso’s all-round game was poor last night. Usually, even if he can be suspect defensively, he will contribute in the final third of the pitch.
However, yesterday, he was equally culpable when given the ball in attacking areas, misplacing passes and failing to deliver good crosses.
Many now want to see Sarri give Emerson an opportunity in the side. The Italian has not put a foot wrong when given a chance in cup competitions this season, and he may be a better option than Alonso on Saturday, at least until the Spaniard recovers his form and fitness.
