Zouma Backs Up Mourinho’s Defensive Style

Chelsea want to make sure they do not end up like Liverpool and lose the Premier League title right at the end. The Blues are about to become the team which has spent the most time leading the standings after Manchester United set the bar at 262 days. Mourinho’s side is very close to making it 274 as leaders with their positive streak starting from August 2014.

The key to such incredible consistency which eventually turns into success when it comes to Premier League glory, was explained by Kurt Zouma who is more than happy with how things are going at Stamford Bridge. The young defender revealed that even though the entire team is more defensive oriented, it is definitely worth it in the long run. Mourinho is well known for being pragmatic and Zouma is 100% behind that. For a center back to have the opportunity to defend and focus on improving his composure and efficiency at such a young age is quite the success. The Frenchman is lucky to be working with the special one who has always had a special relationship with defenders starting from Carvalho and Lucio and Ending with Pepe and John Terry.

Zouma recently admitted to SkySports that playing more defensively is also a result of how other teams look at Chelsea. Everyone wants to defeat the Blues which makes it that much harder for them to focus on showmanship and flair rather than efficiency.
