Would Costa Be Able To Play With This £60million Striker?

It is hard to figure out how Chelsea’s lot will look at the start of next season. Some say Conte will rely mostly on wingers (4-3-3) while others say he will change the strategy all together and go for a flat 3-5-2 similar to what he had at Juventus. Currently the Blues do not have a lot that can be used as a proper 3-5-2 as they are missing a striker. Playing with two up front would mean that Costa would be paired with someone with the exact same profile, not with a second striker or with a winger who has scoring skills. Pato hasn’t proved much and he will probably stay to fill in the substitute list. With that in mind, rumors of Romelu Lukaku’s transfer might start to look a little less farfetched. The Everton striker who had an excellent season (25 goals and 7 assists) would be willing to return to Stamford Bridge despite the fact that Chelsea has finished just one spot above the Toffees. According to the Daily Express, he will not leave the Premier League and through elimination, Chelsea seems like the most likely destination. Tottenham have Kane and would never pay £60million for a player. Manchester United will probably be managed by Mourinho and we all know how his experience was with Lukaku. City has Aguero and Arsenal will not pay that much for Lukaku. It’s the same with Liverpool.

That leaves Chelsea who is in desperate need of fire power. The big question is: will Costa be able to get along with Lukaku? Not sure what the answer to that question is. Honestly, knowing Costa’s character, it`s hard to believe he will get along with the Belgium youngster. It would probably be more of a competition rather than collaboration and there’s no point in spending £60million when you have a forward of Costa’s calibre. If the Brazilian born Spanish international were to leave, Lukaku should be on top of the transfer list for sure. That’s not the case though and even if Chelsea is a big spender, they would be better off with that money invested in someone like Pogba, Varane, Stones, or Ross Barkley. They would have more room to play and they could help Costa keep up with Aguero or Kane who seem the most probable top scorers of next season.
