Will Pato Be Replaced With This Liverpool Star?

Unfortunately, Pato’s arrival did not go as planned. The Brazilian striker who should have brought with him the firepower needed to get Chelsea out of the goal drought they were going through, had little impact on the game. Since signing the temporary deal with the Blues, the 26-year-old made only 2 appearances in which he scored one goal. He was out due to injury and was benched most of the time he was able to play as he was still trying to regain match fitness. Even though he has one of the smallest salaries in the lot, he will not be kept around as his full-contract clause will not be activated. According to the Daily Star, Pato wants to stay in Europe and has only good things to say about his Chelsea experience: “I don’t regret it. Chelsea welcomed me very well. I could play, scored a goal, I showed that I can play in Europe, in England, because many say that England is very difficult. I just stayed hoping to play more. I want to stay in Europe. My head is now turned to Europe. I want to play there. But if not, I’ll come back here.”

Even though it is not yet confirmed, Loic Remy has one foot out the door with just 5 games played this past season. His contract expires in 2018 and since moving to Stamford Bridge from QPR he only managed 12 goals. Even since last summer, the French striker was linked to a move to Turkey where he is very probable to end up after Conte settles in. Falcao is returning to Monaco for sure and that only leaves Costa and maybe Traore who might be a bit young for taking on Diego Costa. With that in mind, Chelsea could be looking to secure the services of 25-year-old Christian Benteke. The Belgium international has struggled under Klopp and only scored 10 goals for Liverpool despite being featured in 42 games this season. Injuries have played an important role in his performances which have made him the 3rd choice in Liverpool’s attack. He is seen as a back-up in case the Blues try signing Lukaku and fail. Benteke shined while playing for Aston Villa and might be right up Conte’s alley. When managing Juventus, he knew how to get the best out of players similar to the Belgium international. Currently Benteke is valued at half of the £32.5million Liverpool paid for him last summer.
