Will Conte Favor Experience Over Market Value And Youth?

There are only assumptions regarding the way Chelsea’s lot will look like at the beginning of next season. Rumors have it that the team will undergo a massive overhaul mostly due to the fact that Conte is not going to be the one adapting to the lot. It will be the other way around. This means transfers, departures and maybe some unexpected callbacks. It is hard to tell who will leave and who should return from loan given the fact that the Blues have so many talented players scattered across Europe. Transfers might be easier to predict though given the fact that everyone knows that Conte is a fan of Serie A. It is likely to see at least 2-3 players leaving Italy to move to the UK and work with the Italian manager.

It seems that the age limit enforced by Mourinho and by the club will be removed under Conte who has already agreed to keep Terry which was a very smart move. According to Metro, aside from JT, the Italian boss will also try signing 32-year-old Stephan Lichtsteiner who is entering his last year of contract with Juventus. Switzerland’s captain has been playing for Juve since 2011 when he transferred from Lazio. This particular rumor sounds pretty real given the fact that Juventus just signed Dani Alves who plays the same position as Lichtsteiner. Currently valued at about £10million, the 32-year-old is a beast on the left side of the defense. He is fast, strong and often helps the attack. He is very similar to Ivanovic and for this much money he would be worth the effort. Having him on the bench or on the pitch would bring a definite plus to the team. Among his physical qualities, Lichtsteiner also brings a lot of experience to the table. He does not crumble under pressure and can handle any winger regardless of his name or abilities. Giving him a 2-year contract would not be such a bad thing.

Aside from Lichtsteiner, Conte is also looking to sign 29-year-old Antonio Candreva. The Italian winger is under contract with Lazio until 2019 but he is rumored to be on the move given the fact that he wants to win more trophies. Apparently, the Italian international’s transfer might be pointing to a 3-5-2 formation which is preferred by Conte.
