Who Is Leaving, Who Is Staying And Who Is Coming To Stamford Bridge?

Who Is Leaving, Who Is Staying And Who Is Coming To Stamford Bridge?

There are a lot of contracts to be negotiated by the end of this month, contracts that are either about to expire or be broken in order to allow some players to leave. The first name on the departure list is Remy who looks desperate to find a new club that can offer him much more time on the pitch. There was a lot of speculation regarding his future destination most including clubs outside of the Premier League. According to Metro, the newest team interested in bringing in Chelsea’s striker is Spartak Moscow. Surely he will be a team regular there considering his biggest competition there will be 24-year-old striker Ze Luis who scored just 5 goals in his last 15 matches. Some rumors say that Remy could also be targeted by teams from Turkey which seems to have become a favored destination for Premier League players.

Who will be extending his contract? It appears that John Terry is on the verge of extending his contract with Chelsea for one more year. The skipper has repeatedly expressed his desire to end his career while playing for the Blues and his wish might just come true. JT is now 35 and will be turning 36 in December. It is very likely that this is his final year on the pitch. It might be nice seeing him say his goodbyes to this sport by saluting Chelsea fans, not other people. Despite a shaky season along with the whole club this year, he deserves leaving the game from the exact same place his career took off and where he won his silverware.

Who is coming to Stamford Bridge? – Well it`s hard to tell as always. The closest to a transfer is Pato who is heavily linked to Chelsea these days. His presence will be much appreciated with Falcao out for probably the rest of the season and with Costa injured. He looks like a decent solution that could turn into a permanent one if memory serves me right. Milan’s wonder kid was a killer in front of goal and had more pace than any striker performing back in the 2010s.

Honestly, out of all these moves, Terry’s extension would be the nicest thing to see. After what happened to Lampard, the club should not let a player who spent almost 20 years at Stamford Bridge, made over 470 Premier League appearances and dedicated his life for the club, end his career elsewhere than his spiritual home.
