Which Loaned Out Players Should Chelsea Release?

Not sure where Chelsea are going with the whole buying-lending players thing. The numbers are already mind-blowing. Currently the Blues have the most players performing for other teams in Europe. The problem is that the number mentioned above could be growing now that Conte is taking over. According to Metro, Baba Rahman could be the 35th player to be signed by Chelsea who ends up playing somewhere else. Fenerbahce are circling the young left back who despite some great performances, hasn’t found his groove yet. It`s unlikely that a permanent move will occur but a loan is surely something to ponder. Out of Hiddink’s current lot, Miazga, Ola Aina and Traore are also facing a temporary relocation as they are young and not that influential when sent in as part of the starting eleven.

Now, let’s look at who is already on loan. Who should be released for good and who could actually help Chelsea while being guided by Conte.

Players who should possibly be released: Christian Atsu, Cristian Cuevas, Marko Marin, Victor Moses, Lucas Piazon, Papy Djilobodji, Marko van Ginkel, Nathaniel Chalobah, Alex Davey, Matej Delac, Patrick Bamford, Kenneth Omeruo, Stipe Perica, John Swift; (We are not mentioning Salah who is already sold to Roma with 1 year in advance – currently he is still on loan and Wallace who is on loan until 2017).

Players who should return: Jamal Blackman, Andreas Christensen, Tomas Kalas, Nathan Ake, Juan Cuadrado, Dominic Solanke and possibly Nathan and Michael Hector.

Players who should stay on loan: Lewis Baker, Victorien Angban, Jeremie Boga, Jordan Houghton, Todd Kane, Charly Musonda, Danilo Pantic, Mario Pasalic, Joao Rodríguez, Isaiah Brown.

The suggestions are based on how the players performed for their current teams, age and on how long they’ve been signed by Chelsea. Unfortunately, the list of players who should be leaving is kind of growing as most of the youngsters brought in over the past could of seasons have failed to confirm. The good news is that the ones who should stay are mostly home grown and are part of Chelsea’s youth teams that won trophies over the past 4 seasons. Let’s hope that Conte will see that and will focus on youngsters who are raised in the Chelsea spirit.
