Which Are Your Chelsea Top 3 Best And Worst Striker Transfers?

Chelsea have made some of the most intriguing, expensive and unexpected transfers in the Premier League. Even before the Abramovich era, big names were associated with the club and ended up at Stamford Bridge where they either became legends or flopped big time. Going through the club’s modern history, some names stand out in either a positive or a negative way. With Falcao now joining Chelsea, a top 3 list would be in place to see which way the balance will be leaning after what is expected to be one of the hottest summers ever in terms of transfers.

Top 3 Flops

  1. Fernando Torres is definitely the biggest disappointment to ever set foot on Stamford Bridge. Seen as the striker to lead Chelsea to success, he sank deeper and deeper in a state from which no manager was able to revive him. He ended up costing the club more than £1million per goal.
  2. Andriy Shevchenko is right up there with Torres in terms of disappointment. The Ukraine international was expected to shine just as he did for AC Milan but ended up scoring just 22 goals for the Blues.
  3. Chris Sutton also makes the list after scoring just 3 goals in 39 appearances. He cost the club £10m which is the same price Chelsea paid for Lampard.

Top 3 Best Striker Transfers

  1. Didier Drogba is the name everyone is thinking about when picturing Chelsea scoring a goal. Brought in for £24m in 2004, he was one of the best if not Chelsea’s best striker.
  2. Tore Andre Flo also needs to make this list as he turned out to be one of the smartest choices made by the club in terms of signing players. He delivered a huge profit for Chelsea and at the same time became the go-to man when the clock was ticking and the Blues needed a win.
  3. Diego Costa, even though expensive adapted extremely well. Even though it is early to tell, he is looking very, very promising. Hopefully he will stay away from injury.

Hopefully Falcao will fall under the second category although many seem to think he is never going to recover after his failed transfer to Manchester United.
